>H10-39R : Rat Nest Retreat Box
The Nest-Retreat Box is constructed on a module panel and mounts in the cage bay tracks like any stimulus or response module. It is fabricated with a 4-unit high module panel. The closed box is a five-inch cube. It may be mounted in any hub (square, hexagon, octagon, or dodecagon) or in either the rat shuttle cage or modular test cage.
Owing to its size, it cannot be mounted with most other modules in the adjacent bays in either the rat shuttle cage or the modular test cage, because, unlike the hubs, the bays in these cages are in a single plane.
A composite floor stands one half inch off of the bottom and rests on an adjustable force switch. The switch may be adjusted to ignore the weight of nest material, pups, etc., and report the presence of an animal.
The back wall / floor assembly is removable simply by opening two catches for access to the animal, cleaning, tending, and monitoring of pups, or replacement of nest material.
